    Hiya,

Can't offer you any advice but just wanted to say I've been following your posts with interest and sounds like you are making such great progress!

Best of luck with the rest of your course and hope the eye feels better now! :j

    Ha, thanks for your post.

Eye is opened more now and reddening gone. Still noticeable but soooooo much better. 3 days of eyedrops left for me. But I'm in the doghouse. Mrs has got it now:mad: Apparently my fault for not having a seperate towel:rolleyes:

Now is a good time of year to contact the education department's transport team. I'm nowhere near your area, but round here loads of kids are shipped to school by private taxi. Mainly special needs kids going to school a few miles or more from home. They travel in council paid for taxis with an escort, so you may not need to wait for the CRB to come through. Next years school places allocation have just been announced, so now is the time that the transport teams will sort out provision.

Thanks silvercar. I will look in to this. I was also thinking of social services for when children are taken in to care and their original school is a distance away.

Really positive day today. Got all the forms in to the licensing dept and they accepted them so I'm one step closer. Think it will be the CRb that takes the longest.

Just got back from buying my taxi. 53 plate vectra. Leather interior, handsfree, full elecs, full service history, heated seats and not a mark on it. ooooohhhhh my backside is roasting now:rotfl: :rotfl:

This way I'm not in debt by buying a new car so there's a saving of £150-£225 a month:j .

also had some good news re the business that I am having closed down. I used a factoring company (bit like a bank who lend you money against your bills to clients) there was a service charge of 3k per month, meaning basically I had to pay 3k a month regardless of whether I used it or not. This was backed up with personal guarantees, assett debentures and fixed and floating charge meaning that even though its a ltd company if i fold it I am still liable for this. There were 9 payments left =£27k. as i was completely open and honest with the factoring company they have waived it and released me from any liability:beer: . Think my luck is turning round.

On the course again tomorrow so will show off my new wheels to the other "pupils":D

Never managed to get in touch with Car HP or loan company, will try these tomorrow.

    Hi ITBS

I first saw your posts on the bankruptcy board and i am amazed at how much you're able to focus and just 'go for it'. I just want to pat you on the back and say Well Done and Keep It Up.

You're truly doing really well. I'm sure you'll achieve all you want to, and that things'll fall into place for you slowly but surely.

Good Luck on your course

Hey Good luck. My OHs dad is a taxi driver, he started after losing his job when he was 50. He loves it because it gives him so much flexibility.

Nowadays he tends to put in three long shifts, including weekend nights and earns enough to be able to play relax a bit, play golf and visit people for a cuppa on all the other days!

He is very much a people person though and I think that helps. He is also pretty unphased by dealing with all the drunks, which would test my patience!

Good luck, and best wishes, I think it takes a lot to brush yourself down and start again after what you have dealt with,

    best wishes,

    fc x

Well someones had a good day:beer:....27k from a factoring company?restores a bit of faith in the finance sector(a bit!!)

When i was out of work a couple of years ago during the winter(lousy time for chefs)i worked with an agency that specialised in placing chefs in nursing homes ...kids homes etc.
anyhow picking up your point on the kids homes ...i appreciate you ll will have a police check done......im not sure if the police check is enough as far as kids homes are concerned but i had a full police disclosure done which few chefs bother with so i was able to get plenty work from the agency.......might be worth checking to see if that specific disclosure gives you an advantages(it may be exactly the same as the taxi check but no harm in checking fine details if it helps you get the business)

    good luck

    Hi persolvo.

In all honesty they had made well over 45 grand from me since i had the business but tbh I was dealing with the MD and the FD there so actually got to speak to the decision makers. The main high street banks laughed at me when I started up now so how glad am I that I went with a non high street bank and people with actual compassion. It obviously helped that the ledger/book debt was paid in full, but still they could have been ar ses if they wanted to.

My old boss lost his business due to one of the main high street banks who he factored. As he was in the sales industry his invoices were sometimes late (as were mine) and these clowns kept quoting paragraph 4, line 3, phrase "............" etc and charging him extortionate rates for each letter /meeting.

Oh well, off for shower now, then to pick up one of the lads from the course who lives near me (nothing to do with his auntie owning one of the biggest taxi firms in town, honest:rotfl: :rotfl: )

Will update how the course went later, first test today:eek:
