4 year old daughter

My daughter often cries on night time not loudly more of a whinge that she has a pain in her leg near her knee and only settles after ive stroked it my oh says its just growing pains but its getting to where shes falling down al the time and just now she was playing out the front and its like her legs are giving way underneath her has anyone else experienced this and what would you advize me to do....have thought about taking her to doctors but im embarased he may say its just growing pains i hate wasting there time so has any of you guys and gals experience with the same sort of thing thanks in advance x
