6630 turn off 3G so only use 2G

There's a program called NetMonitor that lets you do it. You can get it from here:

The page above is also a guide to how to use it. Basically you have to install it, run it, and then go to the option screen that is shown at the bottom of the page (81.1). You can then press 1 to force GSM.

yep tried this and works great except takes a while for reception to come one at first & when you turn ya phone off & on.0

3 took away the option to select which frequencies you can lock your phone to (you can only choose WCDMA (3G): asuming that a 6630 is the same as my 6680).
The problem is that in a lot of areas, the WCDMA signal is "dodgy" you often lose it and get cut off during calls.
In areas where 3 doesn't have reception, they use o2 as a backup, and you can make calls as usual via the o2 network.
What they are talking about in this thread is a way to get past this (i.e. lock their phones onto the o2 signal) without spending money to get their menus reset.
I think if 3 find out that u are locking onto the o2 signal you might get into trouble.
