Opening a cash ISA by cheque?

Is the last day for opening an ISA by cheque the same day as the last day normally (4th April)?
I want to open a Barclays Tax Haven ISA for this tax year, but it'll be troublesome to do so any other way than with a cheque from my nationwide account to my Barclays account, because I'd have to give Nationwide notice of wanting to withdraw £3000 and then I'd have to walk across the street with it in my pocket!
It says on Barclays website that you can open it with a cheque payable to "your name" but it doesn't say when the last date to do this is for non-barclays cheques.
Thanks.

Someone posted yesterday to say that their Barclays branch told them that Barclays are no longer accepting applications for 2007/08 tax year.
For your added info, In March 2007 Barclays did insist on the opening deposit being in the form of a personal cheque. ( I was a non existing Barclays Customer. )0
