An, shouldn't we have a yum yum icon?

This is the best place in the whole wide world for curry recipies. The basic curry is a right fart on to do but is really worth it. I mean REALLY WORTH IT !!!
As a convert to this site and a user of many years I look no further for recipies.... oh and i have no conection with the site.......:D0 -
Just placed my tesco order. It will be around £100 mark after all the savings (she hopes!)
I will update my signature on wednesday when it will arrive.
But, haven't the prices gone up!!!!!!!!I wish Germany had a website like moneysavingexpert!0 -
Just thought I would let you all know that Fixture ferrets has had a makeover - hopefully now they will actuallly keep up with all the special offers
Mrs Moneypenny - When I have vouchers, I just hand the whole lot to the cashier and say 'I'm not sure if you can use all of them or not, I just grabbed them on my way out', and usually they scan them all and if they go through on the till, they let me use themWe must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
Hello! I have spent another £12.01 since my last update, which means I have spent £30.51 so far this month out of my target of £80. It does sound a lot since it's only a week into the challenge, but I had a friend staying at the weekend and was really worried about being a bad hostess, so ended up buying lots of things I wouldnt normally!
I might not have got off to a great start, but I'm pretty confident that I have enough to last me through until next week, and will only have to buy things like bread and milk, so hopefully I won't end up over-budget after all!0 -

OK! Just been to do my shop that I really didn't need to do and I thought I would go to Lidl to get what I could in there and spent £5.26
I then went to the butchers and got some minced Beef (2Lb for £4.79  ) I thought that was a bit extortionate. + I got some cheese. £1.49
Then I popped Mr T's and spent £27.55 although it DID include some seed otatoes for my garden that I didn't expect to buy £3.99 and 4 4x6 photo albums that were reduced to 12p each (They make nice little gifts). So all in al I spent £39.39
I think after all the running about I probably could have got the stuff cheaper if I had just gone to the one big store (after petrol costs and time taken into consideration)
Ah Well, off to update sig and a lesson well earned :undecided0 -
I just wanted to say also that I picked up a pack of Pappadums at Mr T's - I think you get 10 in a box (Can't remember how much) but I'm sure they were in excess of £1.00 and on my way round I went past the ethnic food part and saw pappadums in a MUCH plainer packaging with a lot more in it for 55p.
I Have noticed this with a lot of things - I thinksomeone mentioned nuts earlier - get them from the bakery section and they are half price (sometimes less) than if you get them from the healthy foods section by the fruit. I got a very large pack of coriander seeds from the world foods section too for a quarter of the price of what I would have paid for them from the spice section.
Just a warning to all new OS'ers to check other sections if it could be there for cheaper. No wonder they call us Rip Off Britain

Completed my bargain hunting shop to 'spring meadows' and they did have a few bargains, although not all the same ones that are listed online. Perhaps they have different offers for different regions. Tinned chopped tomatoes were 22p, so I got 8 of them to keep me going plus 2 jars of tomato pasta sauce @ 27p The dried spaghetti was up to 24p, 500g packs of pasta were 20p and long grain rice was on offer at 45p/kg, Dairylea only 63p and I even managed to get a couple of Hovis wholemeal loaves and baguettes at discount. In total, about 10 bags of groceries plus a couple more items to add to my herb garden - discounted pot parsley @ 75p and 2 lots of fresh growing 'aromatic salad herbs' reduced to 14p each (cress mix). I'm quite happy with my bargain shop as there may well be enough in to last the rest of the month. Here's hoping! :j
One admission of guilt - I bought 2 x huge bars of Turkish Delight, on offer at 79p each but this is part of my celebration on Wednesday to mark 100 days of this year's Live on 4k challenge :beer:I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Hiya
Just updating my signature today. Had to get out of the office at lunchtime so walked to the shop. Spent £4.73 on some fruit and ginger but also got 4 cartons of passata for 24p each with a use by date of August 09!
As for the people asking about butchers, I always go to the wholesale butchers in our village. They're the ones that supply all the local pubs but also sell to the general public. I've found them much cheaper than the normal butchers. £1.60 for 600g beef mince, around £4 for a large free range chicken. Probably still more expensive than going to the supermarket, but I've helped out in a butchers section in a supermarket before and I think I'd rather spend a little more!
Also, I always found things like bag of prepacked salad never seem to last once they're opened. Found out it's because they're sprayed with chlorine and then sealed in their little protective atmosphere of the bag. Once it's opened it basically just gives up! Scary!
Thanks for the korma recipe, yum!Jonathan Douglas born 20th January 2009 - 9lb 4oz
