ok so I did a big shop on friday and spent £120 and thought all I had to get on sunday was the kids pack lunch things, so anyway got the OH to take me to Mr T's should of only cost me a few pounds but oh no OH has to put this in and can we have that like a big kid, so it cost me another £23 so in future he can wait in the car like a naught child  thats if I take him again. All in all though his family have decended on us this weekend so I am surprised I've not spent more.

I'm glad my OH hates food shopping. When he comes with me he usually pays anyway so I don't mind WHAT he puts in the trolley :rotfl:

Thanks ever so much for those recipes, I will be trying those out this month! Can I put shepherds pie in the foil trays too? Fully cooked with the potato on top too?? I know I sound daft asking all these questions but want to make sure first. Also can a chicken casserole made in slow cooker with fresh chicken be frozen and reheated in the foil trays?? Also veg sausage casserole - I have seen one on here somewhere with veg sausages and baked beans which sounds nice and something my little boy would eat too.

Many thanks for your help in answering my questions. It is most appreciated.

I've been known to put shepherds pies in foil trays and also in pyrex dishes (I have a few so don't run out if they're in the freezer). They go in the freezer fully cooked with the mash on top. All I do is get it out of the freezer in the morning and let it defrost before I cook it through on GM 5 for about 35 mins (in my cooker ;) )

Although I don't have a slow cooker I don't see why you can't cook your chicken casserole in it then freeze it. It's using the same principle as cooking shepherds pie, freezing and reheating.

Does anyone have the recipe for veg sausage casserole please :D ?

Just a quick thought and I'm sure it's been said before so sorry if I'm repeating! Weight Watchers online has a recipe builder where you put in what ingredients you have and it comes up with suggestions. Very useful for those days when you're trying to use up stuff and lack inspiration. If you haven't got access to it then let me know and I can always look things up for you!

Don't want to scare you all but I heard an item on the radio on Friday that said that the price of rice was likely to double before the end of the year! Something to do with increased demand in the countries growing it and fewer growers as apparantly they are giving up their fields to grow bio-fuels. (Mind you after all that rain we had last year perhaps our farmers could try growing it!). Any how, might be worth stocking up if you come across any going cheap - hope I haven't started a stampede now!

anyway i came on to ask if anyone has any ideas what i can do with a load of frozen fruit? i've got two farmfoods mixed berry, one tesco berry smoothie mix and one tesco tropical smoothie mix. HELP! i'm sick of them taking up the freezer now.
    thanks in advance!!

The two berry ones would probably make splendid jam, then your fruit reserves would last as long as in the freezer, but out of the way in jars!:D

Funny you should mention that, i already have evidence that rice has gone up in price. The usual packet i buy is up by 25p from last week! In fact a few things i buy each week in Mr T's had risen in price yesterday, and not by just a few pence but by 25-30p an item. Oh i was not a happy bunny

Have just made a list of everything in my cupboards and me and the husband will be trying to eat it before we buy any more!

Does anyone know if dried egg pasta actually goes off? (In a "it will kill you if it's past the use by date" way!) Or whether it's just one of those things that is, in reality, fine but the manufacturers have to cover their a*se by putting a date on it?
