I put a handful in to see how it went for the first time. Only I knew they were there and i couldnt see or taste them and I was looking for them! LOL

My OH wouldn't mind but i didnt say anything to see if he noticed any difference, but nope he didnt! :rotfl:

MrsM said to add them in to soak up any fat/oil after frying off the mince and they just seem to vanish. Makes it go further and makes the sauce nice and thick. Give it a try, if my OH had said anything i was gonna say i had used a different supermarket mince for a change to justify the different taste/texture but i didnt need to say anything ;)

I'm making a lasagne for tea tonight and am gonna add lentils to that, will report back how it goes! It means you need less mince as it goes a lot further. Also quite good for you too so a sneaky way to get some extra goodness into your children ;)

Thanks, I might try that and the same excuse too. He is an EXTREMELY fussy eater but what he doesn't know.......:D

Let us all know about the lentils tho eh? :A Not sure I'd get away with that.

He's not got a great diet so a good way to get extra nutrition into him as you say. :T

    Hi all

Grrrrrr..... just realised I forgot to get golden syrup for Twink's hobnobs. Anyone know if I can substitute anything or miss it out? If not I will get it tomorrow.

What about using some honey? Not sure if it will make a difference or not though. I tend to need to follow recipies or it wont work for me!!

Maybe try making half the quantity just to see if it will work, then if not you havent wasted too much.

Hi there Teedy, many thanks for that i shall freeze the mushrooms today, do you know how long it takes to grow potatoes and how do you know when they are ready? Sorry for being a bit thick its just that i use loads and just though i would give it a go.
I,m a complete novice at this myself and just about to start planting but it seems after they flower and die back they should be ready. Apperently you can stick your hand in and have a feel, if they are the size you want pull them out, if not leave them. I believe they will last a while, go onto the greenfingered thread, the experts there will help you more. Good luck.;)

FAYE, The oats I used just dissapeared into the mince, if I didnt know they were there.....give it a try, but dont tell.;)

I bought a collapsable garden rubbish bag from poundland to grow my spuds in, seems ideal, I can just top up the soil when needed.

    Welcom Moment of Clarity.
All you have to do, is state what your budget is for the month, and Mrs Mc will add you to the list....
Or if you prefer... And you dont know what your budget will be... Just keep a tally of what you spend... keep reciepts ect...
That will give you an idea of how much you are spending, and where to aim next month...

    Good Luck :D
