Well I now have £3.67 left to last until next Wednesday and today was a NSD:j
I have also had a lovely afternoon in the hair salon at the college having a full head colour with copper and blonde highlights - cost £0.00:T (I had expected to pay abouy £10 but I was given a voucher by my student). So a good day altogether.

I'm getting sorted out for a 5 day break in Magaluf with the girls from work - 18 of us:eek: ) so that should be interesting;) . I spent my £2 coin savings on some new clothes and even have enough cash saved up for a pretty good time ( thanks to everyone here - take a star all of you:A ) but what I am really looking forward to is resting by the pool with a dish of ice-cream while someone else does the cooking:rotfl: :rotfl:

We fly on 5th May so not long now:j

I'm over budget already. I've spent £91.61 of my £80 allowance and still have loads of things to buy especially as my sister, bro-in-law and ickle niece are coming to stay this weekend.

But..... my excuse is I still have quite a lot of the meat left that I was supposed to be using up because they had some bargains that I couldn't not buy. Therefore next months will be cheaper cos I can use up what I should have used up this month.

And I have 8 lots of lasagne, 8 lots of leek and potato soup and some jambalaya frozen for packed lunches ready for when I start work next week. And I did buy enough crisps and chocolate to mean that DH and I wont have to go near a vending machine for months. So we're saving money really, see?

Not doing too badly - but my budget only includes food for me, I've a full freezer:rolleyes: and cupboards, I've menu planned for May and still have stuff leftover :o . I seem to spend my money 'topping' up, but considering how everything is going up all the time I'm not too worried.

I've spent a lot on the cat over the past few months as she's turning her nose up at everything:rolleyes: , but I have loads of food for her and have got her some stuff at the mo she seems to be eating (sshh, mustn't speak too soon or she'll go off it:D ), she gets an allowance of £15 next month - then she'll have to starve (no chance of that she's a bit podgy!!) or catch her own!

Only 5 days to payday !!!! Whatever is left in the budget on Saturday is going towards my night out!!!!

Keep going folks, it does take a few attempts to get the hang of it - and with everything going up it does feel like you're fighting a losing battle

    1.205kg potatoes (7)
    480g spring greens
    cucumber
    250g mushrooms
    230g aubergine (1)
    365g white sprouting broccoli
    215g radish (bunch)
    335g onions (3)
    460g carrots (8)
    445g cauli
Are you happy with what you get for a tenner ?? Because we are big veg eaters that would do 2 meals for the three of us and then I'd have to pad that out somewhat.
I ask primarily because i'm starting to grow my own and it will all be organic along with the eggs form the 20 free range chickens i'm getting next month and I was thinking that I spend around £40 a week ( agregate) on veg but that's not organic and if you get your box for a £10er then I'd probably be spending closer to £60 if going organic...

Luke warm is a range between room temp and body temp, so between 21(ish) - 37deg. It should feel slightly cool.

Whatever you do, don't have water above 40 deg. The temperature will destroy the yeast.

Sorry, it's the science teacher in me, guess I'm missing school whilst on mat. leave, NOT!
Thanks sosh..... It's like testing baby bath water with your elbow but i have nerve damage so can put my hand under 60 deg C water and not feel the pain.... but know it's hot when the skin blisters, lol.... good job it wasn'tas bad when I bathed my baby....lol.
  • Well I'm off to do my last shop of the month tomorrow, I'm well over (again). I smile to myself when you all are gutted when you overspend, I then look down to see what it is (to make myself feel better LOL) only to see it is £3.67 or something OMG what would you say about mine it's usually well over,I mean well over, anywaaaay!

Have gone horrendously over budget this month even allowing for the "treats" the boys thought they had to haveover school holidays; and the bulk purchase of all types of flour and bogof marg/buttery spread.
I also got quite a few whoopsies which will go into next month and beyond.

Overall on the yearly average I don't think its too bad, its very bad. Will just have to tighten the purse strings over the next few months, to claw some back.

I know I still have to pay both the milkman and the organic veg box next week and will come in at £224.16 (£54 over)  I'm declaring this amount Mrs M. (thanks)

It doesn't help at the moment that I have a just turned teenager with hollow legs who having eaten his 7 chipolatas, 3 yorkshire puddings, mash & veggies declared he was still starving, this was after having had 2 tuna rolls and a piece of carrot cake when he came home from school; he then had a big portion of treacle sponge with ice cream. This was altogether more than his dad who does a manual job had on coming home from work at similar time.

I guess the milkman is an altruistic gesature to employ someone rather than save money, lol. We ditched the milkman about 20 years ago I reckon..... oh the whoe of Mr T. If you have gone over budget again is it a realistic budget?? this is not aimed at you persay Mama 67 just a thought that maybe we are being 1, too optomistic on what we spend or 2, we are finally realising just how much we are getting stung each month for food just to live....

..... Oh by the way, the hollow leg syndrome is easily cured. Chop them off at knee height and fold the flaps of skin over and stitch up..... saves on shoe leather as well.
  • Hiya all :)

Spent £5.95 in Asda today, just milk, bread, ham, potatoes and some cream cakes for my dad. That should be it until Friday when i start my new month (4 weeks) so i've come in under budget which i'm pleased about and the money leftover will be put into the house account :)

Thanks to MrsMc for the recipes, am going to try some of those for OH, he likes snacky things but hasn't got a sweet tooth at all so these should go down well :)
