hi ess-six...recipe for the sardinian lamb...
1 leg lamb
2 cloves garlic
few sprigs rosemary
salt & black pepper
4fl oz olive oil
1 onion
1 tin tomatoes
make slits in the lamb, fill with sprigs of rosemary and slivers of garlic. rub with salt pepper & oil. heat rest of oil in pan which is hob & oven safe. brown lamb all over, add finely sliced onion and chopped tinned tomatoes. cover with a tent of foil and cook in the oven for at least two hours a gas 3/170c/350f. baste occasionally adding a little water if sauce is becoming too dry.Once cooked, remove lamb from sauce and serve with usual stuff...add the warm sauce to pasta for another meal when served with a salad.
hope you enjoy...this is one of my favourites...0 -
Thanks Mrs M for all the recipes. This is a savoury house too. My lads don't eat cakes and love to make their own scones. I have spent another £32 in Aldi but feel that the house is now well stocked with food and we only need fresh foods. My aunt is on her way to visit from Tyneside and is going fruit and veg shopping for me over there as it is much cheaper than buying here. As she says it costs a lot in petrol but she wants to come and visit anyway to see how the building work is going.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

just a quickie....updating my signature and a quick question.
What with the price of rice and pasta increasing.....has anyone tried the supermarkets value/smartprice/basic rice or pasta? Was it any good? Opinions welcomed.
Thanks0 -
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Scotsaver!
Hope you have a fantastic day! Make the most of it, whatever you do!
Moo2Moo - any word about the chicken? Scared to ask now, hope she made it.
Clair - I've been using store own brand pasta & rice for years, I can't tell the difference. Only problem is that the very cheapest ones (20p per bag) they have stopped doing completely in my nearest Mr T, so I'm about to check and find out if Mr A still has their 19p per pack pasta and am going to stock up in MAJOR fashion, even if it means building a store out in the shed! I usually pay 19p or 20p per pack, yesterday they wanted 49p, so it has more than doubled the costs for anyone who was budgetin g on the basic varieties.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Sorry peeps the chicken didn't make it. The Chicken Fairy (tooth fairy derivative) came during the night so the kids woke up to a letter thanking them for taking very good care of their chicken. I know thats a very bizarre thing to do but it makes things easier for the 5 year old.
Thats the same 5 year old that happily goes outside to select which cockerel shes going to eat for dinner. Theres a fine line between food and pets. The girl chickens are egg laying pets and the boys are food. The kids like to bury each deceased pet but theres only so much space in the pet cemetery so the chickens are collected during the night from an appropriately cosy place by the chicken fairy.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500
