    Evening all

Mrs M/anyone who has frozen Mrs M's tortillas, I have a silly question. How do you freeze them? Do you wrap them in cling film, stick them in a tub?
Sainsburys still have the Cravendale milk on special, 2 x 2l for £2, so I bought a couple.

Lisa, welcome to the grocery challenge! Good luck!

I cant remember who was talking about failing the GC. I've not stuck to budget for the past 2 months, but I dont think of it as failing. I think about how awful I used to be at planning and organising meals and wasting so much food. Anything else is an improvement, so dont be so hard on yourselves. Its all a huge learning curve :D

Headed off to Tesco this morning with an €8 off €50 voucher in my hot little hand and €53.13 left of my April challenge, PLUS a €50 unexpected 'bonus' from DD4...this was specifically for food and I meant to leave it for when we are away...she is on very small income.

Tesco bill was €59.20 after deductions, then on strength of bonus I bought some sea trout for dinner to-morrow and some beef skirt and lamb chops ....€27!...so all totted up and deducting bonus from amount spent, I have €16.93 left, but need nothing so will put that into the emergency money tin I have been collecting for DD4 for when I am away next month. D'ya think that's fair, I did start out with €300 and now have spent€333.07...I have been looking at bonus as a money off voucher???

    Good (honest) budgeting to all

    Hi skintscottslass

Are you wanting to freeze the raw dough?
I put a food bag on a plastic lid and slide the dough balls in so they aren't touching and stick in the freezer and once frozen i tip the bag up and fasten it.

When i froze the cooked ones i slid one into a food bag, sat one on top of the bag and then put another bag on top, 1 in and 1 on top of the bag and so on and then into a zip bag..or tub if you have anyone likely to rummage in your freezer ;) my hubby doesn't go in the freezer :p ..hope that makes sense :rotfl:

Another 39p spend in Morrisons today as I realised that I wouldn't have enough yeast to last the month out.
Was shocked how much fresh yeast had gone up since I last used it. Was about 15p then. I don't have the courage to ask for free at Asda or Tescos. I've heard rumours that our Tesco won't hand it out. :(

I now have 15p left for the rest of the month. Fortunately I have £15 of my monthly housekeeping tucked away but I was hoping to put that in the bank towards our holiday later this year. Looks like I might have to dip into that. Rats! :p

    Hi All,

Anyone got a link to that website that suggests recipes based on what ingredients you have to hand? I can't find it :((it's http://www.cookingbynumbers.com/ thanks teedy23!) Or, even better, can someone help me out with a suggestion?

I'd like to make some kind of cake tomorrow, and have the following ingredients available:
    jar of strawberry jam
lots of tins of fruit cocktail
frozen fresh strawberries (would love to use these up)
    frozen hazelnut yoghurt
a little (tiny amount) golden syrup
    about 250g mixed dried fruit
    weetabix
fruit and fibre (wouldn't mind using this up if poss)
    oats
    rice crispies
muesli (wouldn't mind using this up if poss)
    strawberry milkshake powder
    stork
    flora
lard (probably more for pies than cakes lol but i got some...)
skimmed milk (would love to use this up too)
    plain white sugar
    bicarbonate of soda
    self raising flour
    5 eggs
    lots of mixed seeds
    teabags
    coffee granules
    corn oil

Is it possible to make some kind of cake using that stuff? Ideally using up the fresh strawberries and skimmed milk? I've included a lot of strange stuff eg corn oil and strawberry milkshake, but who knows, I'm just learning to cook so maybe they'd be secret ingredients in something lol!

There's a yoghurt cake recipe here, but I only have 'normal' white granulated sugar not caster sugar, and corn oil not vegetable oil, I have no idea if these are interchangeable or would make it inedible!! I'm also missing vanilla essence... Help would be much appreciated, sorry for such a long (and very noobish) post :o I don'[t often bake cakes lol!!

edit - I also have bread and 3 sorry looking oranges...
