ISA i still dont understand

Do you need to put a lump some down in one? as i havent any savings but i can put some away every week plus more once a month.
i want to be able to make my maney make more money for myself is that what an ISA is?
savings for 2012.. New year new me.. Going to save save save... and not spend spend spend. :rotfl:

    No: you can 'drip feed' monies into an ISA: the exact amount per month would depend on the ISA product/provider. :)

    You can put as much or as little in at a time as you want up to the annual deposit limit

    £3000 for the tax year 2007/08 ending April 5th 2008
    £3600 for the tax year 2008/09 starting April 6th 2008

    Some banks/building societies have a minimum for the initial deposit but you'd have to check with the one you're planning going with, it's normally not much (£50-£100)

    You can withdraw money from them at any time, but for example if you deposit your entire annual allowance then with draw £1000 you can't then put it back in later in the year, as you've already made the maximum deposit.

    You can open an Egg Cash ISA with a £1 deposit IIRC, currently pays 6.05%.
