as mentioned in some earlier posts, Play's telephone lines are not premium rate, they're charged at local rate
sorry, really felt I had to point that out again ... don't want anyone getting the wrong impression of one of the better-to-deal-with on-line companies

Always use Play for dvds except on the rare occasion someone has a better price - free delivery too and they've always been great when occassionly the dvd doesn't show.
Prices are cheaper because they are in Jersey I think which is a bit of a fiddle.
Have used the phone when I needed to and found them helpful and knowledgeable but don't tend to buy books from them though so will remember this if I ever get tempted0 -
Same as everyone else I have been dealing with play.com for a number of years and never had any problems. One of the best retailers in my opinion with good prices and quick delivery0

See this post has been going for a while, and am pleased to see everyone except harry4444 (who doesn't seem to be coming back) has had a good experience. I love play.com and it is one of my most highly rated websites. Only rarely beaten by Amazon on price (which is usually whne buying over £19 worth of stuff and so getting free delivery).
Play.com in IMHO the benchmark in internet retailing. Cheap prices (ok, thanks to a bit of a VAT loophole, but legal nonetheless), genuine UK R2 goods, delivery included in the price, good website - easy to browse, see/edit orders etc. and no premium phone lines.
PlayUSA.com is also good for those of us with multi-region players (again with UK postage included in the price).
Amazon's per order delivery charge + per item delivery charge system confuses the hell outta me.0 -
A good thing about play.com is they have great sales with very good prices but I have never seen a sale on playusa.com but if they ever have a sale I would end up spending a fortune as there is that much stuff on their0

Great company, can't fault them.0

just had the experience of having a 5-disc set arriving & disc 2 not playing properly, checked & found marks on it & disc 3 ... Play exchanged it & refunded my postage no questions asked ... excellent service

PlayUSA is good so long as you are under the £18 import threshold, anything over and you are liable for import duties and VAT as PlayUSA are not customs friendly unlike CDWOW or Axelmusic who are customs friendly.Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

I wonder where the OP has gone? I guess he just wanted to have a rant and disappeared... So I would stop trying to tell him the service was OK... i dont really think he ll be back on this thread soon to comment."Don't cry, Don't Raise your Eye

After reading this thread recently, I went to Play.com and got absorbed in the site. I had been looking for an old video for a while and though I knew i could find it at sendit.com, I checked on Play to see if they had it. They did - and it was cheaper! What I had read in this thread had gone TOTALLY out of my head and I ordered two DVD's. Paid by card and recieved them in days.
No complaints there! Thanks to those on here for the link!! :rotfl:0
