I thought the 0845 number was a local rate one. Can someone please confirm otherwise.

    TIA

Think Play are one of the better DVD / Games suppliers online. Never had a problem.

    0845 is local rate.

    Hi,

I did have problems with orders through play.com and had to ring them as my orders get cancelled every single time I order. I am pretty fed up about it because I too got the 'ring back later' thing or 're-order try again if not ring back later' then when I rang back later saying it again had been cancelled they said they would re-order themselves and still same result so again I had to ring back. I kept getting told they didn't understand it but I said why should they have problems when I buy lots of things on the net with not one problem elsewhere. I got told in the end it was my card and they have problems with switch cards yet its a very popular card, they said I'd always have to order by phone but I've never had that problem anywhere.

Other than that they are reasonable price and free delivery the goods are well packaged and arrive reasonably on time. Apart from 1 very late delivery just before Christmas. When I rang about that they said it had actually been out of stock when I ordered but it didn't come up on screen so they had waited for a re-delivery, they took the money from my bank account though. I thought that was bad, they should have informed me either by phone or email of the situation and gave me the choice if I 'd like to wait take the risk of new delivery or cancel the order, instead I was left to have to wait, wonder and then spend money phoning them to chase it up.

I will use them again though even though there are those 2 niggles but I would use a different card to see if the same thing happens with that.
    Thanx

I believe (but am not 100% positive) that the books are handled by a different distribution center to DVDs, Games, etc. I know people who have had problems with play.com in the past - and it's always been with ordering books. For games and DVDs (which is all I've ever got from Play) I've found their service to be excellent.

I think you're right Darksun, I'm sure that one of the people I spoke to when I had the problem with my holiday books (outlined in a previous post) told me that the book distribution was handled by a different 'department'

  • Use play.com at least weekly for my family and also friends who do not have a pc.(yes some people still dont have one) Not once have I had a problem with them. Must admit I am to mean to pay premium rate so would email if i had difficulty. Have emailed them a couple of times asking if they would be getting certain items in stock and they always replied promptly. Sorry you have not had same great service as I have.

I've just been looking into Play.com, and like the look of their prices - in fact, they're so low I wondered if they were selling pirated DVDs! Glad to read good experience here though, so I may well place an order with them.

    Thanks!
