Carphone Warehouse free* (note the asterisk) laptop
Hi all. I have a question. My family are usually no mugs, but my sister has fallen for one of these "too good to be true" offers:

I don't know which phone she chose, but look at those deals. The one on the bottom right, for example. £50 a month for 18 months is £900! I just Googled the phone and the laptop. You could get the phone for £70 and the laptop for about £350. Yes, just for the sake of getting a laptop and a phone for "free", my sister is paying almost £500 more than she needs to, for things she doesn't really need anyway!
The laptop has not arrived yet. Is there any chance she can cancel this contract? Surely they can't make you pay for something you can't afford? I feel so sorry for her, she's not normally so gullible.

has she already used the phone? did she get it in store/on the web (if its on the web she gets 7 days to return but may have restrictions if sim has been used) otherwise depends on networks own rules about cancelations,
but tbh if she couldnt afford it she should have figured that out before she got it and checked whether it was a good 'deal' or notYes Your Dukeiness0 -
There is a cooling off period if she ordered it online or over the phone, check out the terms and conditions on the link you provided. They only apply to the "Gift" ie. the laptop so she will also have to check the terms and conditions for the line rental contract.
As long as the phone and sim card are untouched there should be some leeway there as well.“I look like Spiderman at a funeral”~ Karl Pilkington0 -
It's just like buying it on credit I guess. You pay more per month, which is okay if you can't shell out a few hundred for a new laptop and phone right now.Wondering how to have a life & not rack up more debts...0

I think the OP is missing a crucial point; her sister is getting the bundle for 18 months and that ain't free!0

Yes they seem to have overlooked line rental and inclusive minutes.A lesser tariff flext 40 would cost £40 a month on sim only0
