To Florida With Virgin

We must be the only ones in England not to have had a good experience with Virgin! When we went to Florida with them they ran out of soft drinks about 3 hours before we got there  Not good when you have three children with you! Since then we've been with BA and AA, and found AA to be the best, but not terribly convenient if it's Orlando you're heading for (we weren't). Definitely avoid the school summer holidays if you can - high prices and hot, very humid weather. Spring or autumn are much more comfortable, IMO. Have fun whatever you decide![0

I've flown across the pond now approx 60-70 (7 Virgin Flights) times in the past ten years and would certainly not put Virgin Airlines anywhere near the top of the transatlantic carriers. When I first started travelling frequently i thought they were a good airline, but now, no way.
Standards have dropped dramatically in that time, so much so that I would never fly with them again. I haven't had any particularly bad experiences, it's just the overall package - seat pitch one of the worst, general comfort poor, cabin crew service lacking, food progressively worsening and being a British carrier flights are more likely to be busier meaning less space available.
For a similar price there are plenty of other airlines available. If comfort is a major factor then try American Airlines - seat pitch in economy is far superior to the other carriers. OK, they wont give give your kids a free rucksack or cheap and nasty inflight socks, but you'll feel much more relaxed on arrival. And no I dont work for them !!!

I have flown to America about a dozen times in total with Virgin, US Airways, Travelcity Direct and United Airlines. I am a nervous flyer and United Airlines were by far the best. The pilot was fantastic - warned of turbulance well in advance and was very reassuring. The food was fabulous - even got ice cream watching films. Loads of drinks were brought round during the flight too. By far the best, Virgin second, US Airways third and Travel City Direct well and truly bottom - they were just awful and wouldn't fly with them again.0
