Thanks, this website it is really helpful.

I have already sent my letter and am now waiting on their response. As i didn't mention compensation in my first letter, am I too late to now request it?

we played fair with first choice when we got home from our holiday and ds1 was in hospital(their fault long story) sent them all medical rsults and photos everything they requested, basically they just wanted all our evidence to see what they were up against and then offered us vouchers towards next holiday which we declined, although before then neither side had mentioned compensation we just wanted hotel investigating properly so no one else suffered!!
anyway as soon as we contacted holidaytravelwatch they sorted everything for us,got us a solicitor, put other people who had complaints from same hotel with our solicitor also resulting in a really strong case against first choice which we won:T

i would have requested(demanded!) transfer on 2nd daym rather than grind it out.. do you have photo/video evidence of the conditions? a leaked clip to youtube/watchdog does wonders for complaints turnaround!

i was mis-sold an 'all inclusive' week in Tunisia a while back- ended up out of pocket as only took soivenir money.. ended up having to pay for most things (food/drink) that weren't on a very restrictive list.. it didnt help that is was during Ramadan (a usual nugget of info which was not mentioned when booked, but on site soon became clear.. staff were edgy, stressed out, hungry, whinging etc..).. claims for comp fell on deaf ears so i tok to c/court, got a full settlement cheque with no obligation/admission blah blah etc letter, the day before my case came up!

  • The first week at the hotal was fantastic. It was the second week where it all went wrong!

I wish I had videoed the service at hotel. Didn't think to do that.
I have got my written report, from at the resort.

What I need to know now. I am waiting there response to my first letter. I didn't mention compensation in my first letter.

This was nearly a 4k holiday.

Also at what stage and how do I start taking court proceedings?

  • hi
we had similar experience a few years ago.To cut a long story short we flew home 3 days into our holiday because it was so bad and as travel company were dragging thier feet refunding us our money we checked our Home Insurance which covered us for legal expenses, they agreeded that we had a case and took over all dealings with travel co. We got £1000 back so it might be worth checking your HOME insurance !!
  • I will check my travel insurance too.

Interested to see response to first letter. I will then obviously have to say I'm not happy and would like compensation. I suppose after that is when I have to get courts involved.

I'm not letting them get away with it!

Hey there, was just browsing and saw this forum, I am currently complaining with First Choice over my daughter falling off our DOUBLE BED whilst waiting for her cot to arrive...Long story, made short...Dom Rep Bavaro
Requested a cot when booked holiday, arrived, no cot in room, requested all night for one, told one was coming, waited, waited, daughter fell asleep, placed her between me and partner, waited, waited, called, waited, fell asleep waiting, awoken by daughter's screams:mad: , cut and bruised head on glass cabinet at side of bed, complained to hotel next morning, told cot would be there later...NOTHING! Demanded cot at 10pm, cot arrived, cots location 4 doors away in storage room.

Currently have solicitor on case, but it look weak as the hotel are saying they are not responsible, we are, as we placed her beween us!!! Although they admit they should have supplied a cot!!

Its all so annoying.....Its not the money as they offered us £256, its the fact that they say it's not their fault she was injured...So where was she supposed to sleep then, on the floor??? A double bed is for 2 not 3, BEARING IN MIND WE PAID FOR HER!!!!!!

I'll let you know how it goes....could be ages though at this rate. Holiday was almost a year ago already.
