Thank you for your kind words and continued support Taffy but it isn't just me. Many were on this thread long before I got wind of it, and many have joined since. We all put our bit in and I have learnt much from others for which I am grateful. Now npower are back in the news again maybe other news agencies that others have been contacted by others on here will renew their interest and the members of this thread. Together I hope we will have a loud enough voice to give this a proper airing. This is in one way another example of mis-selling, but by stealth instead of the door knocker.

Good work DD! I too, have tried to contact all the papers and consumer t.v. programmes, to no avail. Let's hope that this contact bears fruit. With Npower in the news again, perhaps a few more approaches to the Guardian etc. from other members of this board could stir something up.

I received another letter from Energywatch, today. They seem quite angry at the fact that Npower have now not answered two of their approaches. They have threatened again, with bumping it up the priority line, but I feel that I've a good idea as to what my eventual reply will be.

An approach to my M.P. sounds like a reasonable idea, perhaps I'll try that next.

Thanks mate. Aye direct debit, dual utilities and fixed rate until 2011. Especially with oil reaching new all time highs today. So maybe I should just do it now as it will take so long anyway. Scottish power say that you can opt out of it at any time if fuel prices go down and it will only cost £1.50 per utility per month extra than the normal rate. Seems too good to be true especially as quidco has a payback of £72.00 if you switch to Scottish Power. There are 2 kinds of fixed rates and as I am quite a low user I haven't worked out yet which one would best suit me. I need a clear head to work on this. Thanks for all your help DD

Had a look and seems o.k. I think the fixed rate is reasonable @ £1.50 per utility. Regard it as a £36 per year insurance policy for the next three years. If prices don't go up for the next 12 months you are out £36. Somehow I don't get the feeling that prices will remain stable for that long. So a fixed price until March 2011 looks good at the moment.

Can you remember the case where a lady took BT to court over extra charges on bill if not paying by Direct Debit (and she lost).
Well the media seemed to be more concerned about the fact BT were being taken to court rather than the fact they were "overcharging some customers"
You may find the same applies to you if you follow through with your small claims case, the media would love that and the resulting publicity would highlight the "scalping" scam.

That case doesn't spring to mind but 15th May is the end of the seven working day deadline I gave npower for a response to my letter. If no satisfactory reply by then then I will fill out the court papers and get the ball rolling. If anyone else would like to consider this then go here http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/infoabout/claims/index.htm for info on how to do it and you can download the forms. Apologies for post 223 it reads like I am using npower 'definition speak'. Worrying thing is I am beginning to understand it.

The court will serve the paprers by post. As npower are a plc you use the name RWE npower on the form, not an individual. I will give the address for the papers to be sent as their registered address (H.Q) in Swindon. Go here for contact info on their Registered Office.

Here is another site and well worth looking at. A very useful guide (they haven't updated the court fees which increased on 1st May) which takes you through every step of the way in laymans terms.
