my sister is having trouble with her supplier FLOGAS ...
they recently sent her a letter sayin that price is rising for her gas. she used to pay £75 per month flat rate via direct debit, and now she has recieved a letter from flogas saying that she now has to pay £125 per month!! this is absolutely astonishing ... she has 2 children, a mortgage and now this, surely this cannot be right can it? she doesnt use the heating much as its a pretty warm house anyway. she uses it for an hr every morning, then 3hrs of an evening, maybe the odd hour here and there to dry washing etc ... is anyone else having problems with flogas?

This has been in the news a lot, I read this article at BBC news...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/robertpeston/2008/03/gas_prices_and_poverty.html
Retail gas prices up by around 15%. It depends how long she was paying £75/month for and if this was in fact under paying compared to her usage.
Out of interest how big is the house? Ours is 3 bedrooms, and we have the heating on for the same amount of time roughly - we pay £50/ month for gas and electric combined.0 -

Flogas is LPG - not mains gas.0 -
O i did not know that. I guess Flogas will still be subject to the oil price increases which are driving up costs of fuel though0

how much pence per litre is she paying ?0

If you let me know her postcode, I'll provide her with alternative suppliers. Flogas are generally amongst the most expensive.0

Isn't it all up for grabs around July time when the long awaited inquiry into domestic lpg supplies are to be 'de-regulated'?0

Flogas do not have set prices ..I am investigating them at the moment.I discovered that a neighbour was paying nearly £10 per 47kg bottle less than me and I was a long standing customer.
It seems that they get as much as they can. thats why they visit you to discuss prices . They do not work from a price list (I believe).
Where do you live and what do you pay for a 47kg bottle?0 -
