A little question - why do you have to pay for company laptop? I have a laptop, mobile and printer and don't pay for anything!

Because it was a family business and I got lumbered as the director.
I've been paying for it to avoid anything going against my name personally until the solicitor has agreed a dispute over the agreement wording.

Have you taken a good look at your life & critical illness? to see if its worth having? especially as you rent & dont have a mortgage to cover.
I checked the one I took out but it covered absolutely nil. Now cancelled.

The insurance guy is coming round tomorrow morning to discuss this. It covers our outgoings and is only life insurance for me and income protection for both of us.
    OH cant get life cover.

Also :D, in your SOA you haven't put in expenses for food, xmas, car upkeep, and any personal spending money - it's amazing how it adds to the budget.

Also how much do you owe on the debts and what interest rates are they?

RBS loan - £8000. Unsure of the interest amount because I've already paid off the interest upfront which was £3k. Now paying the principal until August 2011.

    Loan - £3000. Interest rate is 28.9%

    Barclaycard - £240 at 22.8%
    My capital one - £187.34 at 18.32%
    New Look - £43.51 at 28.9%

Statements are due to arrive any day now for Lloyds and the other capital one and additions.

Are you able to transfer to a 0% card at all? If you could maybe you could use the money coming in April to pay off the £3000 loan (if no redemption charge) then pay off the credit card. I'd only do this if you can get 0% though.
  • I don't know if I could get another card to be honest. Scared to death of running through a credit check given how much credit I already have!

Have never missed a payment though and have just paid off 2 other finance agreements that were on my credit file for the business....ooh...I dunno what to do?!?!

OK if you don't want to do a credit search - and I totally understand mine is shot to pieces due to moving, changing jobs and no history - if you pay off the cards can you put the left over money in a savings account and build up enough to pay off the £3000 loan, again if there is no penalty.

All I was going to ask you is, (only because I spoke to someone when I was doing a survey & she does this ) can you not have a car supplied to you because of the mobility issue, I know the lady I spoke to got a car, which she could upgrade if she wanted a better one & pay more, free tax & insurance! Which you could say, lucky her, but she could hardly walk as her kneecaps were knackered by an accident.
I don't know if this is different in different areas, or level of disability? or if I'm talking out of my bottom, but just in case.............
I'm pressuming you have 2 cars & may be able to sell one, if a free one was provided
Comping again - wins so far : 2 V festival tix, 2 NFL tix, 6 bottles of wine, personalised hand soap, Aussie miracle conditioner

Married my best friend 15/4/16 :)

I'm pretty sure its still the case that you can get a car if on high rate mobility allowance, you wouldn't get the benefit paid to you but you would have the car, tax and insurance paid for as kkw rightly says.

We've just got an automatic vauxhall frontera on LPG for my OH to accommodate his needs and it only cost us £250. The road tax is going to be free and his insurance will be £30 a month if not less cos he has 7 yrs no claims.
We were contemplating the motability scheme, but he is quite well-built and due to the toes in his left foot being frozen in place, he needs quite a bit of room to get in and out of a vehicle. Hence, our mate offered us the frontera...which he finds so much easier to drive and easier to get in and out of due to the height.

This may sound really stupid, but we both feel guilty for claiming the benefit even though he is 100% entitled to it and we both work still. He refuses to be like his mother who is 100% bone idle and has absolutely nothing wrong with her yet bleeds the system dry. At least we're still contributing to society.
We actually enjoy paying for our own things out of our own money! Is that weird?!?!
