I have a new laptop and wanted to transfer a photo editing program from my old one, is this possible without the disk (I lent the original disk out and it was never returned) I wondered if it was possible by memory stick?????

Most likely not; there will be registry entries that you won't be aware of and all sorts of entries elsewhere that the program's install/setup program will have created. You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
No, it isn't simply a case of moving over a file or directory. There'll be edits to the registry, installation of dll files to the windows directory etc etc. You need to install the program from an installation file (i.e. the disc). Which program is it? Gimp is a free photo/bitmap editor."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Its microsoft picture it, I love that program its so easy to use0

That program has been discontinued. Does your new laptop have Vista? The reason it was discontinued was because almost all the features are now integrated in some way into Vista."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Yes it has Vista, it does the basics but I liked all the effects you get from picture it. It will teach me not to lend my stuff out!!!!0

Gimp as I mentioned is free. Picasa is a good photo organiser with some basic features."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

The gimp is good, personally I prefer Gimpshop which is the same program but modded to look more like Photoshop. Another good freeware program is Paint.NET.
What sort of effects are you after by the way? It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -

It maybe possible using the following program:
"Libertà is an infrastructure for supporting Portable Applications. It includes programs to copy your settings around, back files up and make existing programs portable, i.e. redirect their registry entries."

I've no idea if it will work, but fingers crossed it will
HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
Sounds dangerous. If I were you, I'd try and find some feedback before diving in and using somthing that plays with your registry. Set a system restore point as well!Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

I agree, considering in the OP's case (I believe) they're transferring across different operating systems as well I think it would make a complete mess of things."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
