    Bill,

If you don't mind me asking - What monthly investment do you place into your pot? If you think I'm being too nosey just say so!! I'm just trying to gather various different views both of the system itself and investment figures before I sign up.

    For everyone:

    1) What resources do/will you use to source your shares?
    2) How easy is the user interface on the Sharebuilder website?
    3) I have heared that the sign up process can take a few weeks - Is this indeed the case?

    TVM in advance.

    John

I signed up last Thursday night and (with bank holiday in mind) received the paperwork on Wednesday. The account is then fully ready to use.

You then need to deposit some cash into the account and essentially set up a monthly amount (min. of £20 - I decided on £30). It takes I reckon a good 5 working days or thereabouts for the money to be available.

Resource wise I have these in my favourites:

    advfn.com, iii.co.uk, yahoo uk financial news, ft.com.

advfn.com is the one I use most as it has all the accounts and news for companies on (as does iii.co.uk).

Billy's idea of alternating between companies would add some interest to this which I think I'll do myself (when I research a second company).

The Sharebuilder site seems dead easy to use.

Cheers mate so the siging process isn't as bad as I've been advised!

Just need to keep myself off the computer and get my head back in the books now to learn how to pick my stocks!

After that get signed up and get cracking.

I wish I cuold remember the calculations from the previous books I've read..........ho hum!

    Johng,

I put in £50 - 60 every month. At the moment, i'm trying to add a little extra as I can spread the funds as its commission free.
You are all correct though, Its extremely simple to use and very hassle free.

So are some large caps at the moment. One of my shares are RBS. I have some speculative shares in a gold mine that haven't nose dived nearly so much.

When you strike gold Debs - Be sure to let me know!!

Another quickie for those in the know:

Can you shelter your investments in the ShareBuilder inside an ISA? Also is it worthwhile doing so?

something else worth pointing out - it looks like you can only do one investment a month. I was hoping you could say invest some money in company A on the first investment date and in company B on the second investment date. alas this doesnt seem to be the case.

    no prob really.
