hi all
with the advent of compulsary paypal being offered on listings on ebay, it is time for me to set up a paypal account. currently, 2 other people in my family name/household have paypal accounts.
my question - is there a limit on the number of paypal accounts per family name/household?

I don't think there's a limit per household as such, but make sure:
- all accounts in the household are in good standing (don't give them an excuse to shut you down)
- you use completely different name, bank account, credit card.
Basically you don't want to be linked to anyone else... otherwise they can get het up about money laundering or somesuch. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
It's possible for each person to have up to 3 accounts, but each account has to be attached to a separate bank account - so in practice, not many people would run this many.
It is worth having at least one for receiving money from sales, and a separate one attached to a cashback credit card for making purchases with.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

I've heard of people having ebay accounts shut down because they moved into a house that was previously occupied by someone who was NARU... and I have no doubts that ebay and paypal share their user data.My TV is broken!

Guilty by association I'm afraid.
It's not too dissimilar to credit scoring - years ago I moved into shared flat in London, but did not realise one of the other guys was a big time credit defaulter. I lived there for about 3 months, and it took me about 2 years to rectify my credit score again.
eBay and Paypal work in similar ways, but it is just a bit more difficult to get them to reverse any decision!!!<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
update:
i've opened a paypal account and have gone thru what i thought were all the verification steps. i've completed - add bank acc / add ccard / confirm phone / add business info - and my status now says 'verfied'.
so i log in today and there in now a link to lift yet more limits! this time paypal are asking me to link ccard by charging the card £1.00 which will then be refunded when i enter a code sent to my ccard statement into the paypal site.
my question is really about how many more steps of verification are there before i am verifed?!? it says i'm verified yet there is now this additional step! are all these steps part of the 'anti money laundering' paypal process that i have been reading about on mse or is that to come?
