What about your fridge/freezer etc, will you still have them? If they can be moved into another room before work starts surely you can fill them with stuff that doesnt need 'cooked'? HM soup can be re-heated in microwave(assuming you have one) Pasta salad, HM bread. I just made big batch of muesli bars for snacks that should last the week, muffins can be frozen. You got a George Foreman grill? They are great, can do most things on them.

Any of that any use to you:rotfl: Sorry if its not:o

Hiya, poor you, I know what you're going through as I had no kitchen for 5 months once    , while we were building an extension - what a nightmare.

Do you have a microwave that you can set up in the living room somewhere? I prepared as much stuff as I could in advance and stuck it in the freezer (which was in our bedroom!). Complete meals where possible, you know, shepherd's pie, hot pot, that sort of thing. Then I could just nuke it in the microwave to heat thruogh and we had a "from scratch" hot meal in no time.

Or what about a slow cooker? If you don't have one, could you borrow one off someone for a couple of weeks?

    Hope this helps

    Bobby

EDIT to say: - sorry, cross postedwith gunsandbanjos! - Great minds think alike hey?

cant you get hold of one of those electric things its like 2 cooker rings the gas board lent me one once when they turned the power off in our street for a day. the council might be able to loan you something if its off for that long.
apart from that id go with other ideas already suggested like george foreman microwave etc.

i hope you find something and can cope that long, but hopefully it will all be worth it in the end

Try freecycle for a microwave? Or if not i'm sure you could pick up a new one for not too much. The no power thing during the day is rubbish. However if your freezer is really full and you dont open the door when the power is off it should stay frozen til the workmen leave:confused:

There are rules the council have to follow as you are their tennant, make sure they are doing what they should, i know here they had to provide hotplates for people to use in the evening as they weren't allowed to leave people with no cooker.
