Stay away from CeX!

Martin - I know you featured CeX as often being the highest 'payer' for getting money back for your old mobile phones. But I would give a word of caution to anyone thinking they are the better, or safe, option. I sent them my old phone back in December and heard nothing back. I chased them in January but had no response. Chased again in February and, after a long delay, they emailed to say they had returned me the phone. But two months on it still hasn't arrived, and they "can't follow it up". Chased again today and got the worst possible customer service saying, basically, "we don't care" and "there's nothing you can do!".

So, stay away from CeX, if you value your phone, or your money!

couldn't agree more - experienced a similar situation a few months ago - their service / attitude is abysmal. Engage with them at your own risk - you have been warned!

Whilst I agree with this assessment, I have used them and got far more than anywhere else. It may be hard work, but it does WORK. Like cashback deals, you may have to rattle their cage and be prepared to back it up with suitable action to see your money -but see it you can. I have made additionaly unexpected profit from some of my deals now since I started using them. Guess it all depends on your attitude to the hassle involVed! I have used other websites to sell phones and generally they are definitely MUCH better; however, their prices are genarally also MUCH lower!

I have used them as well - without any problems at all. In fact, CEX has been the only place which required many "prods". Since you didn't actually send the phone you have (at least) lost nothing. I have only started actually selling my free phones since November, but have now sold quite a lot. I can;t complain about the outcome - though Cex is a complete pain. However, i have always received top prices without any problems (some of which others have encountered) apart from the timesclae and numerous chasings required for actual payments. I will use them again when the deal is appropriate - but do anticipate aggravation with them. Mazuma and Envirofone were much more reliable in my experience - but I guess it depends on just that (experience!).

i am just starting to get worried about this one.
io sent in my U600 a month ago.
i decided to send it recorded just in case, and now very happy that i did so.

i have heard nothing from them. emailed them as well with no response.
i tried to call them about two weeks ago and was on hold for ages before giving up.

i have just tried again, waited for about 5 mins, finally got to speak to someone who put me on hold for a few more minutes, he told me the oreder was on hold and that he had sent an email to get the order process back on track.

i will give it another week before calling again.

compare this to environfone, i posted the phone on tues and yesterday, thurs i already had an email confirming receipt. that is service

i have always only used CeX's physical stores - that's what I would suggest rather than their mail-order dept.

I read somewhere that not all the CEX stores pay in cash, but only give an exchange value. Is that true?

sometimes they don't have enough cash and you have to go back in a few days later to get it...

CEX have a daily cash limit, once that is gone it is store credit only, and considering they pay more than anyone else the prices for goods are also very high. The one in Swindon has a camera in its window that is £100 more expensive than a brand new one in Jessops.....

My son took in 10 very old xbox games that wont play on his 360 and got £25 credit for them he was over the moon. Fortunatly they had a copy of The Wire season 4 that I wanted for £25 so i bought that and gave him his cash.

    Happy boy.
