what are people's opinions on orange mobile insurance at £5 per month? Is it worth having? What's the small print? Is there an excess? Are other mobile insurance deals better? Can I get my phone covered in the same way on my home insurance?

I pay just under a £10 on my home insurance for my phone.
If you got with Orange yours would be £60!0 -
it should be £6 not 5, main things are
is your phone worth over £72?
do you have a history of loosing damaging phones?
if you lost you phone would you mind using a £10 paug until upgraded time?
covers you if its lost/stolen/damaged, you have to have taken 'reasonable' care of it i.e. like not leaving it on a table and walking awayYes Your Dukeiness0 -
Let see.. in the 10 years i've had a mobile phone (originally with orange).. i've have 1 break (recalled, they gave me a new phone) and another one jumped from my pocket when i was running for a train.. (managed to fix it)
So, in that time, i could have paid (5 * 12) * 10 = 600 quid insurance. However, i would never have needed it, infact, if i'd put that much away, i could have lost a couple of phones and have bought new ones with the money.
However, lack of insurance made me more careful with my phone - it never came out on nights out when i was a student, and i never place it near sinks/toilet bowls0 -
how important is your phone to you? orange insurance is brilliant as far as mobile phone insurance goes. they will have a replacement to you within 12-24 hrs, delivered in a timeframe of your choice. i'd be lost without my mobile so it's great for me. but if you can wait a while for the home insurance to process your claim then that would be cheaper
It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt
