this is the only razor that has got the OH smooth, but i guess every face is different.
they had some good deals on phillshaves in boots stores a couple of weeks ago. i think both companies are bringing out new lines, hence the bargains. doesn't mean they're not good razors though.

Oh, and if you do choose a Philishave, make sure you can wash it under a tap, and it has a graduated display of some sort to tell you how much charge is left.

I bought the 8585 a week ago and find it first class. Don't be tempted to spend more on the 8595, it's just the fancy display you will be paying for. There's no improvement in performance.
I would add though that it is useful sometimes to know how far through the cleaning cycle the razor is, especially if like me you switch it off after use.

Before buying a shaver, make sure you know how much the replacement bits are going to be. Ibought a brAun

for about 29 or 39 squid, the foil got chewed up in a matter of weeks. a new foil is like 13 - 15 squid. I simply refuse to buy it for that price, so it is in my draw unsed for 2 - 3 years now.

I used to have a brAun back in 1990 ish and back then you could buy just a pack of 5 foils for your machine (couple of quid). Now they don't do this, they prefer to rip you off and make you buy a whole new head assembly with a foil fitted !!!!!!

I just use a razor now (when I can be bothered)

Agree with you 100% there. I was looking at the Phillishave in my local Boots this weekend, seems a bargain at 50% off = £60.

Asked the lady how long the foils last and she said about 3 months and at £15 a foil, 3 foils per replacement, thats £45 every 3 months for replace them. Then you add the nivea pouches on and it works out bloody expensive.

Thats what I hate about electric shavers, electric tothbrushes and Mach3 etc razors. They make them dirt cheap to buy and then rip you off for the replacement heads.

Think i'll stick to my bic disposables!!!
