I had one once - cute little thing really
I got a humane trap, caught him and released him nearby in some woodland.
3 days later he was back
So this time he had a car ride (couple of roundabouts for disorientation) and was released on a cricket field. Didn't see him again.
To everyone suggesting getting a cat - DON'T DO IT! Firstly they will bring more mice in, (riends who have cats get them on a regular basis, I've only ever had one) and secondly they kill our wildlife - I forgot the statistics but so many wild birds are killed by cats
I agree with you.
Just posted on another thread that I use this
http://www.primrose-london.co.uk/live-capture-mouse-trap-p-9457.html?cPath=24_25_143 as an incredibly effective humane mouse trap.
I've not had a problem with a mouse coming back in. I wonder sometimes if the stories of the mouse returning are, in reality, another mouse moving into the territory.0 -
Still no sign of the little blighter
But no sign of my device thingummy either . Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow.0 -
was in bed the other night and could hear noises coming from the loft, new build bungalow, and i thought cheeky beggers moving in already when i had only been here 6 months.....
Turns out it was air in the pipes..... OH was convinced it was mice.
just got to suss out how to get the air out of the pipes in the loft, i thought just bleeding a radiator would do it, OH says no it won't0 -
im really sorry to write this on here, but can someone please tell me how you post a new subject, i have been on her for 45 minutes trying to work it out. Thanks :-)0

How do we get rid of mice? We have a utility room and have noticed the last few weeks that our spuds have been chewed on and mice droppings  Hubby has put traps down and weve been cleaning the cupboard out etc.
Anyway, sat here minding my own business and one has just run across my hallway (or im seeing things!). How do we get rid of them? Why have we got them? Our house is spotless! Will they go upstairs? I am now petrified! I am disabled and cant move very fast. I know it all sounds stupid and pathetic but dont know what to do.
What can we get to get rid of them? The traps were obviously rubbish-can we get better ones. We dont have alot of money-so money saving is important. We are with a Housing Association-will they be able to help?
God...Im shaking
Help!!!!!!!

Hi, take a deep breath. I understand how you feel because when I first saw one it made me jumpy too. Just remember they are very scared of you and will run madly to get away from you.
I have had mice on and off for many years as we live in a big old terraced house with cellars.
I have had a great deal of sucess with the old fashioned little nipper mouse traps baited with a chocolate raisin, the raisin helps it stay on the traps bait spike.
Mice have a suspicious nature so when the trap is first put out they will avoid it as it is something different.
So put the trap back in exactly the same place each time with the baited section of the trap facing into the skirting board.
I leave the trap baited but not set so they get to trust it, then after a few days I set it and usually I get the little beggar.
Sometimes they manage to take the bait without setting the trap, but keep setting it, sooner or later they lose the gamble.
Be persistant, the method isn't instant but it doesn't cost a fortune either. Good hunting.0 -

Aghhhhhhhhhh!
that's me the flippin' idiot not reading the date, what a wally!:o
But the tips are still the same, the darn things can have you neurotic, although I was almost suicidal when we had a rat behind the kitchen cupboards, it had chewed through two walls, got the council to sort that one out well beyond my amateur pest skills.
One thing I still do though is everything edible is sealed in tins or jars, there isn't anything for them to eat.
I also always sweep the floor of crumbs and empty the bin last thing before locking the door. Just a habit now.0 -

My mum (yokel through and through) says mice need to go over half a mile away - dunno if it's true, but seems likely with your post.
As for cats - DON'T DO IT - not because they kill birds (mine are housecats) but we have seven cats and we still got a mouse! The cats are too well fed to be bothered to chase it.:rotfl:Put the kettle on.0
