I thought if you had one of those bar plugs (the plug adapters with 4 sockets) with a surge protector you're stuff wouldn't get fried (could be wrong). either way I thought most everybody used these...0

Deffo worth investing in a surge protector which has a telephone input/output...I've lost a few modems over the years. My bro had his puter fried completely once after a bad storm not just the modem.
@ Thenotsowyzewun ...you'd be amazed at how many people don't have a surge protector on their systems.Welcome, rogerramjet.

In the last 2 years i've lost 2 desktop PCs and a wireless router to lightning. All were plugged into a "surge protector". Am I just unlucky? I leave my router on all the time and the phone line now goes thru the surge protector. I unplug it all during storms now tho just in case.0
