I wasnt aware of that. Thanks. However I still maintain that you cannot copyright an idea nor can she prove that she was the first to have that idea. People have ideas all the time not all of them do anything with them but say for example thriftlady came up with an idea for an umbrella for spectacles this morning. I had that idea IRL following a jokey comment made to me over 25 years ago. Thriftlady might very well make and sell the product but it would be very hard for me to prove that I had the idea first as it were..

Thriftlady is spot on. I am sure Bernie isn't begrudging an "economic" point here. With regards to Jamie, well, with his level of media exposure and £££millions of advertising backing from Sainsbury's, it is no wonder that the "fiver" idea travelled further with that vehicle!
It would be great if Jamie takes Bernie on board (like he did with his mates Gennaro Contaldo, Jimmy Doherty etc). Bernie could even propose a new TV programme format to JO's production company: http://www.freshone.tv/opportunities.html How about a format like Bernie visiting friends, community groups etc and cooking meals with them using ordinary ingredients, to a strict budget and transforming said ordinary ingredients into spectacular dishes using flair, creativity and imagination? The guests could also contribute their knowledge and show us how they do it. My Kosovan neighbours are amazing bakers and make boreks, milk breads and sponge cakes for next to nothing and taste amazing.
Mind you though Jamie already did a series years ago called "Pukka Tukka" which was similar but hey, Bernie would be a fresh breath of air.0 -
I've recently started using Feed you Family for a Fiver recipes to feed myself for a week, making the full recipes and freezing leftovers or dividing the recipes down to meals for one or two.
What i would like to know is :
When they mention items from your store cupboard they don't seem to have a comprehensive list anywhere on the website for the items in this mythical store cupboard. Can anyone help?0 -
Hi, you should try the getting started thread, there's loads of help in there, here's the link for the storecupboard essentials thread, which is very helpful.

Well I've just been recommending this book and here you are! Agree with Thrift Lady - 3 meals not just one. Always makes me laugh "you can do this for...." but for the rest of the day you can overspend and/or starve.... I'm always stunned as to how many people I know - I'm in my 40s - haven't got the basics of food/cooking sense. I had to show my 40 y.o. brother in law how to bake a cake a while ago and make a basic soup.....you really wonder how people get to the age they do....But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Actual to be pedantic if the "idea" has already seen the light of day - in this case being published - you can. It's called "intellectual property" and I used to deal with it every day at a solicitors..... However whether you could be bothered to is a different matter....But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0
