Oooh yum. That does sound good. I've got a load of tuna lurking in my larder and was wondering what to do with it - this will be great. :)

My mum used to make this all the time and now I make it for bf and I. We just call it tuna bake, and put crushed up crisps on top instead of cheese. :D Sometimes put the sweetcorn in the tuna and soup too.

The boy and I decided that we should give ourselves a challenge to keep our food bills down. Originally I suggested having a £5 budget a la jamie. The boy's reaction was "f*** jamie oliver, I can do better!" So we decided to take it in turns to make the cheapest tastiest meals. This week it's my turn. However the boy doesn't realise that I have MSE on my side!
Tonights meal was a beef and bean stew which fed four with seconds. I based the meal around one I found on the beat jamie challenge thread.
It costed as £3.59 as I added beef as the boy won't eat a main without meat. It would have been around £1.39 without the beef though.
I'm very excited as everyone loved it, my trained chef house mate even asked for the recipe! Now looking forward to tomorrows morrocan style chicken and cous cous!

    Good for you! :T

I have turned to the dark side of OS recently, lurking on here, getting tips. :D Me and OH's food bill was at least £60 a week and I would still get bored at what to cook for dinner.

So I did a 7 day meal planner at the weekend, did my shopping online instead of going to the shop, all meals mainly made from scratch, no sauces in jars or ready made meals, the bill actually was £15 cheaper and I am looking forward to cooking every day now! Had spicy fried buttermilk chicken and paprika potato wedges tonight and tomorrow its homemade fish pie. :D

I think having a fully stocked cupboard really helps, whatever recipe I feel like doing, I have practically everything in I need already. I'm getting there!

Hi, there  We've got a thread where we discuss the Jamie's meals for £5. I'll add this thread to that one later, to keep ideas together.
