I know of a few other people on here like me that have had three blanks in a row on £50K but has anyone ever had more than that? If I get another blank next month I'll have to assume something has gone wrong with my bonds.
Hey Swipe - just broke a run of 4 straight blanks on a FH with £125 this month. When you work out the odds you do indeed turn to thoughts like you of "something has gone wrong". I checked my bond record was still correct online but so nearly pulled my money out. £125 is no great shakes but at least today I am re-assured it's nothing more sinister. I hope you don't match me with 4 straight blanks. At £225 winnings over 6 months on a FH I feel like my role on here is to make everyone else feel better about their own luck :) Congrats to those doing better !
  • Is there a simple way to work out your monthly/yearly return in a percentage please?  Both myself and OH have FH, this month I have won £125 and he has £100.  Have never won more that £500 in a month between us.  Would be interested to work out our wins compared with interest rates.

For monthly, multiply by 12, divide by 50,000 and multiply by 100

    So for you, £125 this month, x12 would be = £1,500. Divide that by 50,000 = 0.03, x100 = 3%
    For your OH, £100x12 / 50000 x100 = 2.4%

For yearly, use your actually received 12monthly amount instead of the monthly x12 calculation

Add up all returns for the year on the full holding eg say, £1000
    Divide by 50000
Then either press % button on calculator or multiply by 100 to get %

This is tax free but if you want to figure out what it would equate to on taxable savings then for basic rate divide by 8 and multiply by 10 or for higher rate tax payer divide by 6 and multiply by 10.

    So on above example 1000/50000  = 0.02
    0.02x 100 = 2%

which if you are a basic tax payer is equivalent to 2.5% on taxable savings
    Or higher rate to 3.33%

I don’t do it for the monthly amount it is more complicated and more volatile, you’ll find most people here are either quoting a rate for the last twelve months or for the year to date so far.

    Hope that is useful🙂

£100 + £50 + £25 this month taking the total to £3,150 in the last year on £46k.
Better than I could get in savings (just) and tax free.
