    :rotfl::wall: at no expense :wall::rotfl:

    :confused: If you aregoing to be pedantic GG perhaps I should have said at - no loss (but then you would have gone back to the loss of notional interest argument:eek: ) it will obvioulsy cost them the amount they put in but as they will not lose that money, it is only a temporary 'expense' until they take it out again.
  • Have 30 grands worth - no wins whatsoever in Nov - Dec - Jan - Feb and a miserly £50 win this month ! - who's having my share - come on own up !!

    It's not being pedantic.

    Good lord, you're on a moneysaving site and have no concept of "opportunity costs"?

    Sheesh.

    The point about bonds is that, rather than everyone being a "winner" each month and getting, say £50, one person gets a MUCH bigger share, leaving hundreds of thousands of others out of pocket and their buying power diminshed by inflation.

    You do know what inflation is, I gather?

    Precisely - the two million pound winners doubtless have some of what might otherwise have been yours.

    Their win is at your expense.

    That is the point about bonds for you - but not for me and many others - that is the point - we are not looking at inflation and notional profit losses but somewhere 'safe' to put our money and some fun in the process.

    Get the point now? If it doesn't work for you then it doesn't work for you. I may not be moneysaving in your eyes but I am not money risking either - but if I win I could invest that money somewhere else - I still have my original stake and no risk to that. It has not been affected by China at all!

    It is neither money risking nor money saving. It's also not money investing.

    It's gambling. Exactly the same as horses, poker, lotto etc.

    This thread should not be on the 'Savings and Investments' forum.
