To enhance the Chancellor's green credentials.

And in the process , flood Ns&i with more millions that they apparently do want or need?

The Treasury (ie The Chancellor) decides what NS&I should raise from the general public (rather than the Treasury raising it from institutions by issuing Gilts).
No doubt the target set takes the Green bonds into consideration.

I've set my bonds to withdraw after the next draw on the 1st, this was confirmed on screen, telling me to expect them on the 6th, however I assumed they'd email me, which they haven't, as yet.
Can anyone tell me if nsandi do email to confirm the money is clearing out? Thanks

I wouldn’t think so, your bank don’t email you (well mine doesn’t) when you set up a withdrawal. Email is not secure.

Marcus both emails and texts when I make a withdrawal. The email contains no information useful to someone intercepting it, beyond that I bank with Marcus, but would inform me should someone else gain access to my account.
