A few months ago there was drama in South Africa cause the numbers 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 were drawn and 20 different tickets won. So it does happenNebulous2 said:I remember reading that around 10,000 people per draw just pick numbers 1 to 6. If they ever do come up the payout will be disappointing.

in between selling and buying a house in 2016-17 i had £50k sitting around for a year so bought a block of premium bonds to that value.
i won a prize every month apart from 2. first month i won 5x £25 prizes. largest individual prize was £100. total won in the 12 months was £650 total so roughly 1.25% return. worthwhile for the investment? No. worthwhile for the enjoyment of being in the draw every month and possibly winning a larger prize? Definitely.1 -
Horses for courses - the average luck return on PBs is currently higher than that available from savings accounts, whereas this probably wouldn't have been the case in 2016/17, so the relative merits of alternative options do change over time, and someone needing a home for £50K for a year now is unlikely to beat the average PB return via other products....tonygold said:in between selling and buying a house in 2016-17 i had £50k sitting around for a year so bought a block of premium bonds to that value.

before PB, I had parked my money in a Kent reliance savings account getting 1.5% guaranteed. So it is what ever is the highest at the time for me for my emergency savings, which will never be invested in funds for obvious reasons, even if I run the risk of inflation eroding it away.eskbanker said:

Worst case scenario, invested today, tomorrow drop 20% and needs money for an emergency, then that would be a bad decision"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

No big win for me this month - my county was listed a few times for once so started to get excited! Fingers crossed for a smaller win tomorrow...0

They usually go up at about 11.30pm the night before they say they're going to be released, so us impatient people dont have to wait until the morning!Ella_fella said:Do the smaller wins get announced tomorrow? You can rest assured that there is no special prize allocation for any given county. Sorry to dash your enthusiasm. If luck will have it, you might be amongst the 3,079,301 winners in the May draw.Lornrussell said:No big win for me this month - my county was listed a few times for once so started to get excited! It's just a quick way of checking if you have won one of the bigger prizes, sort the result by Area, scroll down to your Area, you can then compare the Holdings, Bond Value and ultimately Bond Number. 4 matches and you wincolsten said:
