  • The draw is actually done during the last week of the month as they inform the million pound winners personally before the draw results are out, (so it's not me again), it used to be a personal visit pre covid.  I don't know what happens with the timing of selling bonds during the last week of the month though, maybe they have a cut off date, any bonds valid as of 21st of the month are valid or some such.  Probably not the best week on the month to sell them though.

You have to hold them for a full calendar month.

So any bond bought on, say, 2 March would not be eligible until the 1 May draw (having being held for the complete month of April).

While what you say is true, it's answering a different question from the one being asked!

The cutoff point when selling (rather than buying) is effectively the first of the month, as explained at https://www.nsandi.com/files/asset/pdf/premium-bonds-brochure.pdf
Once a Premium Bond is eligible for draws, it will take part in each month’s draw provided you still hold the Bond on the first day of the month.
  • Yes, but the million winners are informed before the first of the month, what happens if they sell their bonds 5 minutes before agent million knocks on their front door ?

Based on the rules as published, they wouldn't qualify to collect the prize - Agent Million's script presumably includes the caveat that the prize isn't formalised until it's confirmed that all conditions have been met, etc....

Sorry, misunderstood selling as referring to the selling of the bonds by NSI. Oops!
  • No big one for me this month, got excited a couple of times when I saw my county on the list but different holdings. Fingers crossed for a "small" win tomorrow instead!
  • :) I do that too, Area...yes,  Holding...yes, Value...no, crap. :(
  • Back when I only held £300 of PB's someone else from Bristol, bought same month as me and had a very close bond number to mine won the £1m - I think that's as close as I'm getting to the top prize!
Did notice some one lucky scooped £5k on a £600 holding this month
