I am closing off the 2018-19 tax year with £775 so-called wins on a £50K holding. This equates to a tax-free 1.55% AER which is excellent, relatively speaking, for an instant access account. No win was more than £25.

A slightly less impressive £725 here, but that is still 1.81% basic rate equivalent.

Invested for the first time in December and finally won a prize this month.

    February 19 - £20,585 - £0

£40,000 worth of premium bonds since 03/2015.

Won nothing the first two months they were in the draw, and almost took the whole lot out again.

Since then, generally win £25-50 a month, with the occasional £75 and a couple of misses per year. Won £575 (1x500 + 3x75) in August 2016 and £125 (1x100 + 1x25) in January 2017. Never gone more than 3 months in a row without at least £25.

We have 100k between the two of us and win around £150 per month. After maxing out isa and pension this works for us as a safe place to keep rainy day 'cash'.

We could probably get more interest shopping around. But hey we may win a million !

Gives me 1.60% over the last 6 months.

Whooo-hooo, since buying my bonds at the end of last year, my first chance to post in this thread, a nice email from ERNIE, £25 in April.

    Was holding: £10,000
Now holding: £10,025 (yep, I'm on auto reinvest prizes)
(Although I could be wrong, I often am.)
