Meet ERNIE 5: The tiny new microchip choosing Premium Bonds winners

    https://www.itv.com/news/2019-03-01/meet-ernie-5-the-tiny-new-microchip-choosing-premium-bonds-winners/

And ERNIE 5 can now select its winners in just 12 minutes.

No excuse not to release the winning bonds the same time as ThisIsMoney !

Yes I read this, but I usually get an email informing me of how much I've won by the 6th of the month but this time it arrived on the 8th. So much for ernie's new speed!
Incidently, the only prizes we seem to get are the lowest prizes i.e. £25. I'm beginning to wonder if the higher prizes actually exist.

Details (including specific bond numbers) of the winners of the high-value (>£5K) prizes are published every month at https://www.nsandi.com/prize-checker?tab=prize-draw-details&panel=tab2#high-value-winners for anyone needing to be convinced, although there will doubtless be conspiracy theorists claiming that such data is faked!

I got 2 x £25 in this months draw with £23000+ of bonds held. Always hope for at least £100, but only ever seem to get the £25 wins. :o(
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

I check the results in the app, always there on the 2nd working day of the month (including Saturdays) so it was the 2nd in both March and February.

    Pretty nonsensical discussion here.

Your holders number doesn't even go into the draw, so Ernie can't prefer some holders.

Little known fact, the first Ernie was designed by Tommy Flowers, same bloke who designed computer that broke Enigma

I catch the train from Bletchley, home of the Enigma Code breakers. Is this why I haven't won in 2019?

If I start to catch the train from Milton Keynes instead, will this guarantee me a £1m?
  • Did you have £50k in premium bonds during this entire period?

    Yes for the entire period
