Just seen a £20 bond bought in 1959 has won a £1000 prize this month.:T
The total amount of held bonds is £34.
Not that impressive then. Had it just been held in a savings account it would be worth about that much anyway, and invested in the stock market at average rates of return 50% more than that.0 -
Can't believe this, I've held circa 7k to 12k for about 5 months, first 2 months I won £25 each. Then nothing for 2 months, and I've just won £100!
Far far higher than the calculator predicted.
My interest in my other account would have been about £10 in total for those 5 months, I know have £150! Winner!0 -
2 x 25 for me this month
still holding out for a big win0 -
Another Joe, Que?
How am I going to get that kind of money per month with any savings accounts without obscene effort for like £5 a month interest?
I've already got my 123 account maxxed out, this is extra that I have in premium bonds.
Personally I'd rather have the risk, and it's doing just fine so far!0 -

Because if you look at the record of historical interest rates over the past 60 or so years, that's how much it would have grown, because rates of 6, 7 and up to 10% for many years were normal.
http://swanlowpark.co.uk/savingsinterestannual.jsp I took the rates in that and that's what the numbers come out to if you compound £34.0 -

You've lost me, this is new money and I've only had it in there 5 months ish.0 -

Ah, cross posting I was talking about the person that had £34 since 1959. Sorry for the confusion.0 -

If I had the spare cash Nationwide, BOS and Santander would be adding to the total.Eco Miser

Anyone feeling lucky for 3 hours time?
Incase anyone doesn't know, the NS&I have an official app (on android anyway) that you put in your number and it gives you a little display if you win.. quite a nice feature I think it's really exciting.
Anyway... the million is coming to me tonight.....
Good luck all.0 -
