  • ERNIE has overlooked me and my £10k for quite a few months now. My interest is rapidly diminishing, in more ways than one.

...lots of kids were bought PBs as birthday or Xmas pressies back in the 50/60s - suspect that many of those small amounts have long since been forgotten and the current whereabouts of the holders will not be on record.
    More orphan funds for HMG!!:rotfl:

My husband has two £1 bonds that have been registered to him since he was a child (he is 63). Didn't know anything about them until we both bought some bonds in the 1990s. Mine came with a letter saying 'your holder's number is...', he just got bonds. He wrote to them to ask why he had not got a letter with his number on and they wrote back to say that was becasue he already had a number and it was because he had had these 2 x £1 bonds for years.

You're right though, there must be loads of people who never update their address and so never get any prizes. I had a friend when I lived in Spain, shre has never updated her address. I told her there may be a prize or two waiting for her. She said she couldn't be bothered to hang on the phone while they changed the address. Don't understand it myself.
