Have you seriously looked around properly for deals? I know insurance for new drivers isn't cheap, but your BF is 22, not 17 so should be a little cheaper...

Have you tried money supermarket or the tesco comparison...

    Have you looked into Quidco...

IMHO you'd be better finding the cheapest quote possible on the car you currently have and build up no claims on that... new drivers have accidents a lot (hence high cost of insurance) but at least if it happens in your 97 Fiesta you wouldn't need to claim unless it was major....!

I have searched every single one of the sites in martins car insurance guides. Sometimes the quotes would look a bit cheaper but when you click through to the actual providers site the quote would go up by a couple of hundred. My husband is 22 so like you said I thought they wouldn't be so expensive but they are! Maybe it's because we live in Central London (Zone 1).The £1100 - £1300 is for my little old fiesta.

Haven't had a look at Quidco but will do so.

Saw a free insurance deal on new Corsa's for ages 19-80 but you have to have had a licence for one year
2022 wins: PS5 bundle, SSD drive, luxury truffles

Debt free and intending on staying that way!

sometimes its worth joining owners clubs online as the better ones have set up deals with brokers to offer an additinoal discount to their members. could try a ford owners club or something.

Also what insurance group is your fiesta? If cars are fitted with alarms and immobilisers it can lower the IG so maybe worth having a look to see how your car measures up.
