im with bt and my bill that ive just got is £123, last one was £108 and the one b4 that was £128
this is terrible
i only save £20 a month for phone
we only got it turned on so we could have the internet on
our line rental for 3 months is £7.87
we call too many mobiles and dont bother to wait till evening etc
my b/f calls his friends a lot who only have mobiles
would it be better to give ourselves money each week/month to put on our mobiles (both on vodafone)
this would stop my b/f calling on house phone as he could text
i could too
and only call family evenings and weekends etc
obviously any other calls would have to be made on house phone
what should i do?

The simple first step would be to get the cheapest package from BT (you haven't mentioned which plan you are on but your line rental appears pretty cheap) and then subscribe to 1899, 18866 and 18185.
Then get your self an Orchid dialler (if you don't want to remember to dial the right prefix for each call every time) and route all your calls through the above services in a way to make the most savings (detailed pricing lists on their respective websites).
websites are:
1899.com
18866.com
18185.co.uk
This is the starting point but you can then make further savings through other providers (i.e like free evenings and weekends to landlines using other carriers like one-tel or talktalk -I haven't used them myself-).
Hope that would be helpful.Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0 -
If you want to stay with bt then this thread is handy too... free weekend and evening calls at no extra charge for 3 months... it would give you a chance to do it NOW and then three months to sort out if you want to move to other people.....

Hope this helps.

Trying to find the best deals to save as much as we can..........0 -
I think probably the line rental for three months should read £37.87.
The websites mentioned are
www.call1899.co.uk
www.call18866.co.uk
www.call18185.co.uk0 -
i dont know what package i have
i was on in contact and then called them to put it on incoming calls too so i could get the internet on
it says £7.87 on bills
i dont necessarilly want to change from bt
just want to know what is best to do, carry on with house phone or give a certain amount to ourselves each week/month to go on our mobiles for texts and only use house phone when really needed

Sounds like you could be on a low user tarif which means your call charges are expensive.
Check if your bill says option 1.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

Line rental of £7.87 for one month or three?
I really think you need to ring BT and find out exactly what package/system you are on in that case.
It sounds like you are on a package for a low user of calls but if you are a high user of calls you are then charged a lot more than the standard rate for calls.0 -
3 months
