Hi julia,
It's in the first post on this thread. I've added your post to it so that you can find it again.

Hello all
Having now found the three course indian meal for a fiver (thanks very much) I was wondering if there are any suggestions to adapt the main course to meateaters?
STARTER - Lamb Koftas & chutneys
MAIN - Yellow split pea & coconut dhal
Spicy potatoes
Rice
DESERT - Lemon curd ice cream
Could you suggest a good curry receipe that would fit well with the main, just feel like the guys I am serving it to might appreciate some meat in there somewhere? Any ideas would be much appreciated. No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -
Why not put the koftas with the main, and do a spicy dip with crudites for the starter
If you add more meat, surely you'll go over your budget

I have just been re-reading this thread - thanks for resurrecting it :T I was just wondering how many of the meals would now - a year later, following all of the price hikes - be a fiver? All still a good deal, I'm sure, but just got me thinking
I would love it if people contributed to this thread again - tho I realise the total costs would realistically be more than a fiver now for a decent meal for 4. I still think it would be useful for inspiration when having dinner guests
Seeing as I am at a loose end this afternoon (doesn't happen often!) I thought I would price up a 3 course meal that we would serve at home to guests. Thought I might as well post it in case it is of interest or is useful to anyone elseNot bad - came out at £6.96 for Asda (tho £8.16 for Sainsburys
) I am sure I could do a cheaper menu tho if I had another go.

I am holding a dinner party and making lamb koftas. The receipe I have says bbq or griddle. I have quite a few people coming over and would be much easier if I can put these in the oven. I do have a griddle however have quite a few to do so would take too long.
Perhaps could I griddle earlier in the day and reheat in the oven?
Advice would be appreciated :0)No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -

Hi Penelope
Thanks for that. The receipe I am doing says to griddle them for 3-4 mins each side. Would you know how long and at what temp to cook them?No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -
i wouldnt cook them a bit and then reheat....id griddle them for a few mins on all sides then put in oven to cook straight after then enjoyonwards and upwards0

I concur with tessie. The kofta will have to be griddled at some point. The char is essential to the flavour. If you do the entire process in the oven then it will be dry. You should only use the oven to keep warm.
Edit: Just noticed time. Maybe a bit late.0 -
Think I need to copy & paste and PRINT some of these:beer:
