Can I suggest taking a look at Manjulas Kitchen on the net for loads of easy curry recipes, mostly vegetarian, so cheap.
I do one of her potato and cauliflower currys which comes in at about £2 - £3 and is delicious, quick and easy to prepare (see her on Youtube too!)0 -

I have just found this thread and used it to plan my monthly menu, theye is such a verity and they appear to be very adaptable for those of us that have a picky member of the family, is it possible for sombody far clever than me to compile a recipe book on PDF or recipe only thread to include all the recipes? i have seen something along those line on the Groscery challenge thread.
Thanks

budget sausages, £1 for 20 - use 2 or 3 per person
couscous, £1.50 a bag? handful per person- soak in water befre cooking
1 pepper, deseeded.
1 onion.
(both these roughly chopped).
dollop of marmite/bovril, or a stock cube.
olice oil or similar
hot water
lightly grill or bake the sausages.. when half way through, start on-
heat oil in a large pan, add pepper and onion.
when wilted slightly, add sausages, stock and water* to just cover all ingredients.
bring to boil then reduce to simmer, stirring occasionally for 20-30 mins.
serve with chunkt bread (optional).
* water seems to puff up the couscous a bit more, and allow sauages to properly cook..
the first time i baked the sauasages too long beforehand, and they went rock hard, so youmay need to experiement with amount/times.Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

Curry night is a great idea but PLEASE don't buy spices pre-packed from Tesco. Buy spices loose, from an Indian grocery store, or from Julian Graves. Incidentally JG also do a nifty kit for making your own Greek yogurt (for the ice cream), much cheaper than buying a pot

that split pea and coconut dhal is lush... made it last week. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0

I remember reading ages ago, a thread where someone posted a three course meal for £5.
From memory, I think it said lamb koftas to start, curry and dhal for main and lemon curd something for pudding.
I did print this off and now lost it, have searched the threads with no joy.
Anyone remember? Got three dinner parties this month and I am skint!!
