Can you get walks with OS maps for free?

There are several mapping sites that show footpaths and some on-line petitions asking for Google Maps to include footpaths in the UK. There is even talk of "street" view cameras mounted on bicycles for off road photos.

For the time being you might find these useful:

I quite like this one for "research" it displays OS map and GOOGLE MAPS - on one screen.
