Individual post maximum character count?

Pretty soon I'll be posting a 'Getting Started Guide' for the Competitions Time Forum, sanctioned by our BG to help people who are just starting out with their comping addiction :D

I have seen others say they had to split their post across a couple of individual posts because they ran out of character space using just one post. I'm hoping to use linking & anchors within my post to be able to jump from a list of FAQs to the relevant answers.

My question is this: Is there a character/line/BBcode maximum per post please? It would be helpful to know ahead of time so I can take that into consideration.

Thanks :)

Can anyone suggest where I need to post or who I should email to obtain a reply to my question please?

I must have put this one in the wrong place on Monday

I think the maximum post length is 25,000 characters here.

That is certainly the number the forum told me to reduce a post to last time I tried it.

I think that is the only restriction on post length.

I can't see any options that would restrict the body of a post in the vBulletin admin CP.

All I can see is this on another site/example:

Thanks for that fermi :) At least I have some sort of an answer now!

I did have a Google around, however, that simply told me that vBulletin has maximum post lengths, which can be set by the folk who run the actual site.

I'll go with the maximum you suggest for now, unless someone from the Forum Team or MSE Towers comes along to say anything different.

    :)

Well, I just pasted a ridiculously long piece of text into this post and the forum came up with the error:
The following errors occurred when this message was submitted:
    1. The text that you have entered is too long (37762 characters). Please shorten it to 25000 characters long.
So that would appear to confirm it.
