wallpaper over tiles

Hi, In my kitchen I got strangely 3 walls with painted wallpaper and 1 wall with tiles, they were like this when i moved, I dont want to remove the tiles or paint them as so much hassle and will be selling on soon, so I wanted to know can you wallpaper over tiles and what is the best way to do it so the paper stays put? thanks in advance for any reply.

  • I can't see that being possible. I would of thought it would be cheaper and easier to paint the tiles

  • Hi,

I would think you could, though you would need a good heavy paper.

Have a look at here at Contour Wallpaper, some nice designs, or you could use a 1200 lining paper, maybe need to do it twice to hide the grooves.

The good thing about the lining paper is that you can emulsion over it.
  • seems like a real bodge to me. i'd leave the tiles or tile transfer to give them a lift.

  • Wallpaper over tiles = wrong

Remove, paint or clean. Do not wallpaper over them.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

Seriously, don't wallpaper over tiles. Not only will it be a pain in the backside but it's a proper bodge job and pretty pointless.

Clean them up and paint them or something, just don't wallpaper over them!
