Check voicemail and texts from internet and other phone?

I work on boats and am often out of signal range. But we do have internet via satellite.
I'm looking for a way to send txts and read the replies both online and on a phone.
I would like to use the same number if possible.
I'm currently using Tesco pay as you go (o2 UK). Perhaps another provider allows me to read my messages online? If so that could work in conjunction with free txt send websites.
Also, how can I check my voicemail from another number? (such as the ship's satellite phone)
My international SIM (storyTel) doesn't yet do txt'ing or voicemail.

Order of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. What should have happened?: banks go bust and we lost our money much quicker
