LOL
There should be a new version of the Kyoto Agreement which dictates that all countries which have been using home aircon for years must now stop using it so that the countries which have recently got warmer can start using them. Like us!
Voila, no increase in global warming!British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

It does cool down rooms nicely but one thing it is quite noisy which to me isn't a problem because we switch it on before bed, cool the little fellas room down then ours so at least they're cool when trying to goto sleep. For less than a hundred quid you really can't go wrong though!!! (I paid £125 for mine brand new)
Good luck
Nick
Could you sleep with it on?
Where does the vent hose go? I assume you don't want to exhaust the same hot air back into the house?0 -

I bought a simalar unit from Homebase the other month, and Yes it is noisy but I use it when I am trying to sleep off night shift. It works a treat and I manage to slep with the noise as its a sort of constant droning type noise which sends me to sleep. So be aware that it is slightly noisy but that should not stop you sleeping.
Hope the above helps.0 -

Having done a nightshift in the past I can imagine that a cooler will really help when its hot0 -
These things are absolutely superb. Down in the bayou last summer we tried everything - huge dirty great fans (pointless circulation of warm air), evaporators (£60 down the pan). I then bought a similar 8000btu unit from B&Q last year for £100 and it worked a charm They are not that noisy and the poster who called it a "drone" is absolutely right - I slept pretty every night with it on all and it was great.
Do not hold back - easily the best £100 I have spent in the last few years.0 -
Do factor in how much it costs to run though - much more than a fan or an evaporative cooler. Look at the rating plate.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

The one on offer in B&Q is A rated
, so you can'nt get better than that

Got one of these yesterday, cooling was pathetic and it leaked what felt like silicon oil over the floor.
Probably a duff one but I took the hint that it wasn't meant to be and got a refund.0
