Hello,
My father has just bought a pay as you go Motorola V550. He would also like to be able to use it in Spain with a Spanish sim card. At the moment I think it is locked to Vodafone. Vodafone say they will unlock it for £20. Does anyone know whether this is the best/cheapest route to go or is it safe to go to any stall holder who does unlocking and pay them (I've seen this advertised for £5 to £10)? As it's a new phone he doesn't want to take any risks with it. I've seen a long thread on unlocking Nokias for free but assume this isn't possible with Motorolas? We are both fairly non-technically minded so any tips would be gratefully received.
Thanks in advance.

had my V500 unlocked at local mobile phone shop for £10. but there are places that do it cheaper. Had no probs with it and didn't lose any messages or phone numbers. It now works with Australian SIM so I dont think you'd have any probs with a Spanish SIM.:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0
