Kaz.. it isn't original.. well it is.. but has been moved from a bedroom.. possibly the master bedroom.. the white replasters marks on the wall are from the oriiginal one and one the same size (ie twice the size of the current one) is going back in. The mantel is all twisted and it hasn't been put in straight and there is a crack across the top.. so I had a wobbly.. as I am prone to doing and said it HAS to go.. I have black wallpaper for the chimney breast and so we are having a cream stone surround (cheers hubby!! lol) and a black 'stove' thing.. probably an electric one though so I can have it on and not have to try burnign down the house with a match to get it lit!!

In about.. 10 years time (LOL) I will be able to post pretty pics of it!! .. Ok.. we are hoping to have it all done.. by the end of April.. then we are moving our bedroom in there..

hubby back from charity shop so I best dash and pretend I've been busy!

Just managed to catch up with thread, takes some doing doing keeping up with you lot!

Hugs to all who needs one.
Glad to hear the good news re ILs Johanne
    Condolences to hollyh and OH

Chasingbutterflies I have found mice to be a strong motivating force!! :embarasse I have completely blitzed the whole of downstairs. Hoovered the LR, wet wiped all I could reach, mopped kitchen floor, cleaned under fridge, cleaned out kitchen cupboards, the full works (even, yes, even the oven!) I only started flying yesterday - am now knackered!

I have a basket of goodies in one corner of the living room, chocolate and crisps and things. Picking up all my junk off the floor so I could do a good hoover job when I noticed bits of creme egg wrappers in the corner. A previously unopened bag of mini eggs has nearly gone! There was a hole in it and two little eggs sat in the corner. Further investigation led to a completely empty packet of peanuts also with a hole. Bleee! I've chucked all my goodies away 'cos I daren't go anywhere near them. Don't think I'll be able to have another creme egg again for a long while. Its an old house so theres gaps in walls here and there. Have plugged in all I can see. Really really hope I dont actual see any of the little blighters  _pale_

Except now my dyson is on the blink. Its my own fault, I found a half eaten creme egg and couldnt bear to touch it so hoovered it up. Ooops! Emptied it and can't find any blockages so have to check out the dyson website me thinks. Well, after I've read the posts you have added since I started this story! :rotfl:

Your house sounds as if it is very similar to ours - Victorian terrace? We've been in ours 7 years and still need new kitchen and bathroom and havent managed to decorate all way round yet. I can see why you want the fireplace removed if its not right, the picture looks deceptive. We still have original fireplaces in 2 bedrooms, a tiny one in the bathroom (which we want to turn into a bedroom, and the bin into a bathroom,) then the 2 in the sitting rooms. The front room one is a white marble surround (with an orange felt pen circle on it courtesy of littlemeister which I cant get out!) but has a black gas fire in, but the middle room one is a black surround and an open fire (at Christmas!)

Tried to post pics of the bin but they are coming out sideways even tho they are not on photobucket or the camera card  .

I'm bored now and only DD and me for tea so its Iffits tonight which will only require zapping. Feel like I need to splurge some cash but holding back.
Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!
